DAUGHTERS OF UTAH PIONEER MUSEUM

Franklin County is a county located in the U.S. state of Idaho. As of the 2010 Census the county had a population of 12,786. The county seat and largest city is Preston. Areas of Franklin County have been part of Oneida and Bonneville Counties in the past. The county of Franklin was established in 1913, but boundary changes have been made since then. With an area of 668 square miles and an unemployment rate of 3.8% in 2015, the incorporated cities are Preston, Franklin, Dayton, Weston, Clifton, and Oxford. Major waterways are the Bear River and Cub River with numerous creeks and the Twin Lakes and Glendale Reservoirs, with smaller reservoirs throughout the county for agricultural use. The Westside and Preston School districts are responsible for educating the county’s youth. Historic sites include the Bear River Massacre site (National Historical Register), The Franklin Historic District and Museum, the Oneida Stake Academy and many historical markers and points of interest.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Franklin County Historical Society connects Franklin County Idaho residents to their heritage by creating a shared digital archive of documents and local histories through open internet access, participating in local heritage activities, generating tourist attractions, and enhancing local school programs.
